Frequently asked questions.

Does the library have computers/ printers/ scanners/ FAX I can use?

Yes. The library has four public computers available for use, first come, first served. We have a wireless black and white printer available for public use ($.25/page) and a scanner available too (free of charge). We do not have a FAX machine.

How’s the WiFi?

The library’s WiFi is fast and open at all times. It is accessible outside of the building if we are closed. There is no password so we do not recommend you do banking or other sensitive activities on the network. The network is called BFPL.

Can I bring food and drinks?

Yes! We are food and drink friendly. We also have a Keurig machine with coffee and tea available by donation.

Do you offer a summer reading program for children?

Yes! We participate in the Blue Hill Peninsula-wide summer reading program for children, the Peninsula Passport. Children of any age can pick up a passport and then visit other local libraries to get their stamp. Prizes are awarded for complete passports and each page encourages reading a different kind of book. We’re always happy to make recommendations!

Do you have a book club?

Yes! Our book club meets monthly on the 3rd Saturday at 10am. Everyone is welcome. You can learn more about the book club at our Events page.

Do you have a book sale?

Yes! We have a book sale room that is open any time the library is open. Once or twice a year, we have a big book sale in the Town Office conference room. All books are sold by donation only (you pick the price) and all proceeds benefit the library. We accept donations of used books except for textbooks, encyclopedia sets, or moldy/dirty books.

Is there a private room I can book?

Anyone may book the library’s conference room during open hours, first come, first served. If you need to book the room during the time the library is closed, contact the library director, Brook Minner.

Do you offer resources for remote workers?

Yes! In addition to the option to book our private conference room for online or in-person meetings, or just as a private work space, we have printers, scanners, and public computers for your use. Remote workers and small business owners might also find helpful information in the Maine Digital Library, a collection of databases, many of which contain helpful resources and information for businesses. We have coffee available by donation too!

Do you have opportunities for volunteers?

Yes! Please read more about our volunteer opportunities here.
